Spring 2024 Update

Signs Of Spring

As we bid farewell to the chill of winter, the early days of spring usher in a season of rejuvenation and hope. With the gentle warming of the weather, we are greeted by the vibrant tapestry of flowers blooming, painting our surroundings with a kaleidoscope of colors. The air, once crisp and cold, now carries a soft warmth, hinting at the promise of sunny days ahead.

In this enchanting season, we also welcome back the melodious chorus of birds, returning from their winter sojourns. Their songs fill the air, a sweet soundtrack to the unfolding of new life. It’s a time of celebration and awe as we witness the early signs of birds engaging in their timeless dances of courtship, a testament to the cycle of life continuing in its beautiful rhythm.

As we embrace the early days of spring, let us take a moment to appreciate the natural spectacle unfolding around us. May the resurgence of life and vitality inspire us to renew our spirits and find joy in the simple pleasures that the season brings.

A few weeks ago, we had a night of mystery and education when 20 Girl Scouts from Hopewell Valley participated in an owl-focused event. the evening included presentations, an “owl prowl,” and hands-on science activities like dissecting owl pellets. Participants learned about owl species, their anatomy, hunting techniques, and diet. The highlight was a visit from a gray morph Eastern Screech Owl, enhancing the Scouts’ understanding and appreciation of these birds. The event successfully combined education with direct wildlife interaction, leaving the Scouts with memorable experiences and new knowledge about owls.
